Sometimes, knowing how to make snacks ourselves saves us money and also help to keep our family in good health, as we know exactly the choice of ingredients to be used that are good for us.

In this article we will learn how to make our creamy homemade popcorn and am assuring you that, it will be discussed step by step.

I have always wondered how popcorn was made until I discovered the secret behind it. 

 If you are in this same situation, you don’t have to worry because I want to assure you that you are in the right place because in this article, I will discuss the simplest ways that this can be achieved.

 Before we continue, I want to inform you that it’s not just any kind of corn that its used but there is a particular corn good for popping and it is called zea  mays  everta and is  the only  variety of maize that is used for popping, it is only it that has the ability to pop. 

Before we continue, it is good we look at the ingredients needed for making this snacks. These ingredients will be listed below.

Ingredients For Popcorn

  • Zea mays everta (corn)
  • Margarine (butter)
  • Sugar
  • Oil (vegetable oil)
  • Milk (all kinds)
  • Water (to wash the corn)
  • Sieve


And it is important that we know the equipments that we need.
  • Pressure pot
  • Bowl
  • Tray
  • Dishing spoon

After having all the equipments listed above, we will proceed to the steps or methods involved in making popcorn.

Methods of Preparation

Step 1: Measure your corn about 2 cups and pour in a bowl.

Step 2: Pour water into it to wash away the dust.

Step 3: Drain in a sieve.

Step 4: put the pressure pot on the fire and allow it to dry up before adding oil. You can choose to use margarine butter instead of oil.
And u can also use both oil and butter together. 

Step 5: pour the corn immediately you pour the oil. But if margarine is involved, allow it to melt completely before pouring the corn in it.

Step 6: After the step 5 above, cover the pot completely.

Step 7: It won’t  take up to 5 minutes, just 2 to 3 minutes you will start hearing the popping sound. Still wait even after hearing that sound until everything popped and the popping sound ceased. Then bring the pot down and open.

Step 8: When opened, quickly turn it on a tray. This step have to be done very fast in order to prevent it from burning because the pot will still be hot even after bringing it down.  

Step 9: Sprinkle sugar and milk on it while it is still hot.

Note: If you allow it to be cold before adding, its wont melt and it will be sticky on the hand while eating. 

You can choose to add a little salt to it. Its taste better with both salt and sugar mix together. 
Finally your home made popcorn is ready to be taken. It is good to consume while seeing a movie, reading or even resting.
